I am on one of my monthly marches at the weekend, this one, unlike most of the others is an unsupported walk which means I have to take all my food and drink for the day. The aim here is to take enough food to complete the walk without carrying excess weight. Here are my supplies and why I’ve selected them.

Joanne joined our team of therapists here at Bawtry Natural Health in January and introduced me to tapping. I was a little skeptical at first and Joanne will probably tell you it took a little while for me to understand but I was open to trying EFT. Anything that makes me a better person and has the potential to make life even better is always worth a try.
I have got to know Joanne over the past couple of months and have had a course of EFT sessions that has been freeing! Joanne comes from a background of mental health and is a Psychological Wellbeing Practioner and draws on all her skills as a PWP and an EFT practitioner to help her clients move through their problems grounded in limiting beliefs often from past experiences. I spoke to Joanne recently and asked her a few questions to understand why EFT/tapping is Joannes favourite tool for helping people work through their limiting beliefs that hold them back and how and why it works! Above is a headline that I saw today while reading the news, my first thoughts were to close our health shop business and stop practicing nutritional therapy, fortunately my second thought was to track down the study that the article was based on and see if I match the conclusions of the undoubtedly highly qualified writer.
Spring has finally arrived, flower’s are blooming, it’s light in the evening and the trees are awakening from their slumber, but for an unfortunate few (15% of the UK population (1)) this also means a heightened immune response resulting in sneezing, runny nose and itchy eyes, I am of course talking about pollen allergies or hay fever. Standard treatment from the GP is includes nasal spray and antihistamines which can be very effective in reducing the immune response. Antihistamines work by suppressing the immune response so that when pollen is encountered by the immune system, the reaction is less severe, reducing symptoms, unfortunately reducing the immune response means that other potential pathogens may enter the body unchecked, drowsiness is also a commonly reported side effect (2) resulting in many people seeking alternative treatments.
Exercise is one of the most important tools we have to lead a healthy and productive life. Every system of the body is benefits from exercise, the cardio vascular system becomes stronger and more efficient, blood flow is increased to the brain, the skeleton is reinforced and reformed, peristaltic action aids digestion and detoxification is increased. On the downside, waste products are created, muscle fibres are torn, cells become dehydrated and energy is expended. In order to gain lasting benefit, the body must recover and be replenished, so that its ready for the next time and able to be pushed harder in order to develop and grow.
Some people call it the white death, others believe it is completely natural, some think it’s addictive nature means it should be made illegal and other think it’s fine in moderation. One things for sure, sugar is definitely having an impact on almost every aspect of our health.

With the excesses of Christmas and New Year finally out of the way, now is the perfect time to go on a detox program and get back on track, right? Well maybe not. Celebrity detox programs are all the rage at this time of year, most are unnecessary, some are dangerous, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t things you could be doing.
